It has been an unusual summer and fall to say the least. We are way behind on rainfall totals for the year, but not because it hasn't been TRYING to rain. I am a rural mail carrier, so my small amount of farming gets done after work. I also do a very limited amount of lawn care, cut WAY back on how many I would accept this year. Anyhow, it would often rain 5 or 10 hundredeths every other day or so. Not enough to really help the late planted stuff like mine was, but the early stuff really liked it. My main crop is grass hay. LOTS of fun this year trying to get it cut, raked, baled AND inside or covered between the nuisance rains. When it wasn't raining, it was HOT. 2nd hottest July on record here. Ran around 10 degrees above normal all summer, now running around 10 below normal. By the way, it is raining right now.

Here in NW Ohio, we've also had a ton of rain. The volume isn't gigantic, but the storms are spaced so that you can never get out on the fields, which never seen to dry out. Only because I have a small farm did I get my soybeans off and my winter wheat in. I did my ground work in conditions that were just over the line into too moist and the results were barely adequate. Lots of farmers around here haven't gotten their corn or beans off, or their wheat in. I've seen two stuck combines and several others with dual or floatation tires churning through goo to take corn off. A strange fall.

Here in SWMO we are 10-15" short of rain for the year. Some places not far from me have only had 1-2" of rain in the past 14 weeks. We are dry-dry-dry!

In Sept we only got .75" of rain and so far in Oct we have only had .70" of rain.

With the exception of 2004 we have basically been in drought here since 2000.Bean harvest has just started here because the drought stricken beans just wont ripen. Its so dry the wheat is having trouble coming up.

Send it this way. We are behind 6-7 inches for this year and last year about the same. We could use a good week of a slow steady rain here just to catch up to what we should have. It did rain here a couple days ago but you can dig down about 6 inches and not see any signs of it

Levi, I am too, we have had wet weather since about the 14th of September, seems to rain every three or four days and nothing ever gets dry to get back at the harvest. We have had close to 3 inches this week since Monday. I know some of you are hurting for rain and its been dry in various areas of the continent. I do sympathize with those who need rain, just wish we could give you a few inches of what we have. Most of our soybean crop is out and there are a lot of white navy beans out yet. They will not take the wet and will blacken and spoil. Only a very few corn crops have come off yet. We will need about four good sunny windy drying days just to get into the fields...Mike in Exeter Ontario

I wish it rained only during the week. Weekends are when I have off and can do stuff. Now that its getting colder tho, it doesnt matter when it rain, as long as it turns into snow and a blizzard so I dont have to go to work =)

We just started digging footings for a small tractor shed, and have trenches open for water and electric when it started raining. We got more rain in one day than in the last 3 months total. I am glad to see it though, we were very dry.
