This has been going on for a long time, as I received a free cap for a Farmall Super C in 1980. Back then they wanted you to turn in your old cap.

Also be aware that a lot of unscrupulous people have sent yours and my serial # in to get the caps to resell on eBay and such. There was a poster this spring that sent his request for a cap on a tractor he had owned since new and the request was denied because they had already filled an order for that serial. I know that it has happened a few times. The guy that runs the program posts on the farmall cub board quite frequent about the time of arrival and when he runs out and such. JS

This is AWESOME. My cap is definitely not the proper cap as it never locks, just turns forever. Saves me some money!! =)

I received one last week, and it only took aobut a week and a ahalf. I think how quickly they come depends on where the orderign cycle is when you place your request.

The program is not so they can find out how many tractors are still running. It is part of a lawsuit settlement over fires from incompetent users overfilling their tanks and thinking someone else must be responsible.

If they have already supplied one for the serial number you give you should not expect another one.

You should also be aware that this program is coming to an end very soon.

If you run a search you"ll find this subject talked about regularly by new members to the board. The free caps aren"t from Case-IH, they"re from Navistar, which is the last remaining division of the original IH company. Below is a link to a form for the free cap. Beware that it may take many months before you receive your cap, since they wait for a large enough number of requests to do another production run.
