I'm starting to understand what yer saying.... the main reason i suggest the a is for that 1. antique asthetic coolness.....2. cannot house 2 tractors here yet (god knows id like to) 3. old irritates the yuppie neighbors that have been moving into our lil farmin town 4. a's been in the family for ages ....3rd generation in my hands. even kept grandpa's bullet hole from "deere hunting". If i have to go with a different smaller tractor.... what would you guys suggest for size and my farmall addiction to do all as requested?

To sum up what all the rest told you, for the money this will require, you could by a 40hp tractor complete with loader and 3 point hitch for about the same money, plus keep the Farmall A just to look at.

I guarentee you, do as I suggested and you will be money in over the next 5 years. You can't begin to imagine the items your going to break if you mount hydraulics, loader and 3 point hitch on that Farmall A

i found pics of a ih 1000 loader on a farmall 140. it looks like there is extra bracing all around to support it..... ..... also appears to be a single arm that is designed for offset farmalls can an ext belt driven pump drive the hydraulics on this thing?

Not practical. To run a loader and 3pt, you need a pretty decent hydraulic system. An A has no hydraulic system, and never had one as a factory option. You would need to upgrade to a Super A to get factory hydraulics.

There are two choices:
1. PTO-powered hydraulic pump and external reservoir, either built from new components, or in the form of an old Char-Lynn PTO unit(rare). The problem with this is that every time you push the clutch, you lose hydraulics because the PTO stops. The rear-mounted pump and reservoir will also interfere with a 3pt hitch setup.
2. Cobble an old power steering pump on to be driven off the engine via a belt. The problem with this is the pump will be low-volume so the loader and 3pt will be slooooo ooooo ow. The pump will stick out and interfere with the loader. Plus, it will almost certainly be problematic and unsightly unless you're a darned good fabricator.

In short, it can be done, but it just ain't practical.

IH made all of those pieces I believe, but at this point you would be looking for used parts.

Try the classified section here (post your own want ad too), ebay, etc.

Not going to be easy to find the loader, and three point hitch will require additional modifications to be feasible for an A.

Might be more $ and frustration than you want to get involved in.
Might be better to look for an IH 300/350 utility with all of the above, and keep the A for whatever you might fancy.

Snowblade/Grader blade IH manufacture and they can still be found.

3pt can be fabricated or store bought through Worksaver or Hugh MacKay can help you in that department but you will need hydraulics

Front loader IH manufacture IH 1000 loader but once again you will need hydraulics

IMHO I wouldnt even put a loader on that tractor, the front spindles cant take any real weight !
