Got a line on a 350 utility with power steering and a loader. Thing is, it's a diesel and I don't know a thing about diesels. The guy says the "pump and injectors" have been rebuilt.?? What should I be looking for? Any major problems with this type motor. Heard they're hard to start in the winter. That true? He was asking $3800 and just lowered to $3000 to sell quickly.
Good deal??
Thanks, David H. in SE (Dexter)Michigan

I always shy away from IH utilities that lived with a loader on.I have a 330,350 and a 460, the steering is good in them and none ever wore a loader, check the oil in the diesel that continental was famous for pumping fuel in the crank case

Thanks for your comments, very helpful. Still thinkin' whether or not to purchase as the tractor needs rear tires so it may not be such a good deal after all.

I grew up with a 350U and our neighbor had the Diesel in the same year and type. ( I drove it a lot. The gas would make about 2Hp more in the field pulling 3-14 FH plows in clay based soils. The D was using only 2/3 the fuel. Both of those tractors are still with their original owners (mine is in the gallery to the left) The Contenental Diesel is rather rare in terms of replacement parts and major components. They are fine engines and give great service. They are cold natured and require a squirt or two of ether to fire in the dead of winter (Northern Indiana W/O engine block heater) I think if the tires are good to 90% and the steering box is operational and pretty tight, that it is a good price.
