I have narrowed my trailer choices down to a skid steer size in a PJ or a Load Trail to haul my Farmalls. Does anyone have any first hand experience with either of these two trailers. One is powder coated and the other has acrylic paint. One is only primed underneath. Both are 83 inches between the fenders and have a 14,000 GVW.I know there are probably better trailers out there but I am looking at the economics and I believe these trailers would meet my needs.

I don't know anything about Loadtrail, but I own a PJ and am very happy with it. Did a lot of research before I choose this brand, and after buying mine and seeing how well made it was, I sold 5 trailers for the same dealer to friends of mine, and my Uncle became a PJ dealer this past summer because he liked mine so well. Said he wanted to sell quality products.

Retcol,

Even though the powder coat seems to be the premium system, I have just found too many items that have serious and fatal rust occuring beneath the powder coating. My nephew is a paint chemist for PPG and has said that many manufacturers are having serious difficulty with the powder coat process...it has to do with the electrostatic process trapping + ions on the metal surface which chemically becomes an acid acting on the metal. The powder coating holds together quite well, but the base metal is totally destroyed and comes apart in sheets of rust. I would take my chances with the acrylic paint, and preferably with a good primer.

They are asking in the low 3K's for a 20 foot trailer i.e 18 foot flat with a 2 foot dove and stand up ramps.
