My 450 diesel ran great when last used this spring. It has set in the shed all summer and now it misses on diesel. It runs fine on gas so I don't think it would be a stuck valve. Where would you start looking?? Thanks, Buddy

If miss is on one cylinder, crack the bleeders at injectors one at a time to see which cylinder problem is on. Also gives you a idea how good pressure is to injectors and checks for air. If you find a cylinder not up to par, screw a compression tester in spark plug hole and turn engine over with controls in diesel run side. If a starting valve is stuck or leaking very bad the needle on gauge will jump up pretty fast.

If you do'nt find a fuel problem take the valve cover off and make sure that one of the staring valves did'nt stick open when you first stared it on gas for this first time this fall.

I"m no gas-start diesel expert, but with any diesel, first thing to do is replace fuel filters, then make sure the system is bled 100%. If that doesn"t work, suspect an injector. Could one of your decompression valves be hanging open? Those are open when the engine is running on gas, so a stuck one would not effect the way it runs on gas.

I had the same problem with my Super MD. It would run well on gas but was only running on three cylinders on diesel. Bleeding off the cylinders solved my problem as one of the injectors must've been air locked. Its a start and hopefully you are as fortunate as myself. Good luck.
