I am looking for a tractor to use around my property. Would like to plow and disc a little, but mostly grading the driveway and mowing ditches, also a loader would be great. I don't want to buy more tractor than I need, but don't want to buy a tractor that can't do what I need it to. Any thoughts on the ability of these two tractors?

exdosit: I guess it depends on just how fast you wish to acomplish all of this. 560 is definitely going to have a lot more ability than a 350, but the 350 will be a lot more agile when it come to mowing, loader work, etc.

I had both a 300 and a 560, the 560 was diesel, and would do more work on half the fuel. If I were you and had more than 50 hours work per year, I'd go diesel. I also had a 656 diesel and as years went on we found ourselves using the 300 less and less, and it was purely fuel consumption. I actually liked the 300 better for jobs like mowing, baling and loader work, but at 3 gallons of gasoline per hour versus 1 to 1.5 gph of diesel in 560 and 656 doing the same work, it wasn't hard to park the old 300. We weren't paying 2006 prices for fuel back in the 60s, 70s and 80s either.

Interesting about H, 300, 350 size tractor and how IH destroyed it. 460 was just too cumbersome for 40 hp tractor. 504 diesel was a nice little tractor, but the wide front was too light. 544 was a decent tractor, but IH priced it too close to 656, thus sales really never took off. After that it was all basically British-German hi utilities. If it wasn't built in North America, I always avoided it like the plague. If a guy wanted a new tractor today under 100 hp, probably he may be better off getting the plague. I'd operated a few on them, all makes, they aint going to be around 50 years from now like those old Farmalls.

SOOO TRUE!! They sure as heck dont make things like they used to. It's sad that you have to spent 10x as much nowadays to get something that will last...
Even the worst made stuff back in the 50s, 50s, and 70s lasted a hell of alot longer then alot of the best things made nowadays, from tractors, to power tools, etc.
We have traded (through no fault of the consumer), longevity for more functions, easier of use, cheaper price tag.

Everytime I buy something, I wish it was 50 years ago =(

Forgot to say that with the 350 my dad pulled 3-14s for a plow and a 8' disk.

Depends what your HP requirements are. I like both tractors very much. If you are doing a little plowing, discing, etc. I would think a good running 350 would fit the bill. I have serveral 560s and use them everyday. With the 560s I pull 5-14s or 4-16s as far as plows go and pull a 12' disk.
