I finally remove the inner brake drum on My SW4 ( Thanks to all for the help ) The dealers serviceman in Springville NY told me I would have to pull the PTO and remove the top of the transmission( Boy were they wrong kind of scary to let them work on a 200,000 piece of equipment).Thats why their labor rates are so high there .

Anyway I purchased oil seals for the shaft . dealer says 1 per side ,some people say 2. The length of the bore to install is 1/2 inch wide as is the old seal . The new seal is just shy of 3/8 . What are you super H and SW4 owners doing with this. The shaft is in good shape.

If it's anything like the PTO seal, the original seal is about twice as thick as the modern replacement. It's common to replace thick with thin. It's also common to replace one with two so the resulting seal is the same thickness as original.

Ed - I installed only a single, narrow type seal for each brake shaft on my SH 3 or 4 years ago. Neither has leaked a drop since.

In the future you'd be wise to avoid that serviceman in Springville!!
