I am buying a 1935 F-12 Farmall that runs great with no antifreeze in the oil, but it leaks a lot of antifreeze around what looks like a water pump that connects to the upper radiator hose and is the housing for the radiator fan, pulley and shaft. I don't know too much about F-12's. Is this just a matter of a gasket where this assembly attaches to the engine block or is this a serious problem. I'm not even sure if this is a water pump or just the housing for the radiator shaft, pulley and fan. Please help!

the f12 has no water pump. the upper hose connects to the fan assembly. the assembly connects to the head. sounds like you need a new gasket that goes in between. loosen the nut on the fan, in front of the assembly. it will let the fan loosen up and you can take off the belt from the pulley. take out the 3 bolts. at this point you can check the fan assembly for cracks. if it looks good, install the new gasket and re-install the assembly. pg

It's not a water pump, F12/14's were all thermosyphon. As you said, it's just the upper radiator hose connection and fan shaft mounting.

It may be cracked, or it may be just the gasket has dried out. No big deal to replace.

I would definitely do some investigating to make sure it is not the crankcase. If it is the pump gasket or the pump housing itself, then you can probably talk the guy down some and fix it for not alot of money. If its the crankcase, I wouldnt even bother.
