Purpose Of Remote Valve???

What is the purpose of the remote valve, or "Christmas Tree", seen on so many M's and H's? Is it so you can have hydraulics in two different locations, or, is it to have down pressure as well as up pressure (two way pressure) on the same implement, such as a plow?
Thanks in advance.

So, Cowman, if I run my fast hitch on my SMTA off of the rear outlets on the tractor, then my fast hitch should have down pressure, right? I always heard about guys lifting the back of the tractor up by putting blocks under the fast hitch then lowering it. I tried that, it don't work. It won't force a plow in the ground either. Is my valve bad or something?

The downforce is controlled by a pin by the lower end of the cylinder on the FH, at least the version that was on Dad's old 450. Check to see if You hitch has it. Even with the FH blade on the back He could lift both rear wheels off the ground.

I doubt if the valve is bad. Either it is only hooked up for pressure one way or else the oil is leaking by the piston inside the cylinder.

It's so you can have 2-way pressure. I have on on this 47 M so I can force my drill in the ground.
