Anyone know the size key that a Farmall H takes where the wheel attaches to the axle? My IH dealer says they list for $60.00 each. Are they special? Thanks

I thought I remembered dealing with a key when I was putting the wheel back on my H a while back, so I went down to the shed and looked.
Everybody's right.
The axle has two slots 180* apart. The clamp has a key cast as part of it, the wheel has a slot with a piece of 1/2" keystock. I'm guessing that the $60 thing is the clamp, and would try a salvage yard.
Good luck, Wm

What is the cast # on your wheel? If the key they want to sell you is 364699 R1 i may be able to help.

Cowman is correct (to the best of my knowledge), the key is built in. If it a non standard hub, or if some one repaired one, then it might need a replacement. Measure the slot in the axle for the correct size, then get a replacement from Motion Industries (or= supply store). Make sure it is a little longer than the hub is deep to apply full strength. Good luck, JimN

I thought they were cast as part of the hub?
