I have an IH 1066 and was wondering if biodiesel, B5, B10, B20, is okay to use in the tractor?

With all due respect to ADM and the others that are selling this stuff They need to do a more consistent job of quality control and Then I'll give it a try. The state of Minnesota mandated that all School buses run b5 a year ago and all was well until the real cold weather hit. After many howls of complaint from school bus contractors the state suspended the rule until the warmer weather came back. Lots of stranded buses- lots of stranded school kids and quite a few red faces. I'm all for trying our hands at alternative fuels however, IMHO, we have a ways to go in that area. I'm Craig Thoricht and I approved this message.

If they were gelling it wasnt becuase of the B5.In fact if they were having any problems on B5, it wasnt the bio side of it.I guess it could be coincidence that the problems all happened in the winter, but what problems were they having?

I am running a B2 in my tractors (Farmall 826/ Ford 2810) now with no changes noted. I disagree that thre is any power gain to be had from it (according to many sources it has fewer BTUs than diesel), but you don't lose much and the lubricity is improved. I was warned that it does tend to dissolve fuel system gunk. Per the recommendation, I started off with a light mix. That way it lets that stuff get to the fuel filters a little at a time rather than all at once (and plugging them fast). Also, a high mix may have jellling type problems in cold weather much sooner than straight petro diesel. I think biodiesel is great, but it's not the end-all-be-all. It's good for farmers and that's enough to get me behind it. The best part is that it's a good compliment to the new ULSD, which has an uncertain record on lubricity with older engines (or at least unproven in the general public's eyes). Still, I'm not willing to pay a super-premium price for it and ill use it when the prce is reasonable and only in warm weather.

I have know idea as to if will be good or bad and i will not commit to a yea or a Na on it . As for me i know what we went thru with the first round of changes in the diesl fuel and there were some realy mad farmers layen out for pump rebuilds . But since i was make money off them why should i complain . Fixen tractors makes ya like and undertaker profiting from other peoples misfortunes .

B2, B5,B10 and B20 should work just fine. They are simply belnds of bio to regular diesel fuel.
2%,5%,etc. It may actually give you better performance from the old girl.
