I purchased an H about a year and a half ago that the head gasket leaked externally a little when hot. I parked it for about a year in my shed, and tried to do some maint recently, but found the engine is locked up. Any ideas?

Pull the plugs, then blow out the cylinders to see if you have any water in them. If you do thats why its locked up. Drain the cooling system and fill the cylinders with tranny fluid. Then find out where the water is comeing from, maybe even pull the head and check it out and the head gasket

Pull the sparkplugs to see if any coolant is on top of the pistons causing a hydrostatic lock.
If there's no coolant present, pour some ATF into
the cylinders and let it soak. You may need to pull the head and drop the pan and use some persuasion with a big hammer to drive the pistons out. Use a piece of oak to drive on. Hal
PS: Some on here have rocked the tractor while in gear. Others have used the starter by just bumping the starter.

May well have leaked internally , thus getting water in on the pistons and rusting her up
