I thought the CubCadets were made by or related somehow to IHC. Now a service person told me they are a MTD unit. Anybody know or have good/bad experience with cubcadet zero turn units.
Thanks in advance.

When I bought my Cub a few years ago, the dealer explained that yes, Cub now belongs to MTD, but is run as a seprate organization. Look up MTD's web site and see all the Walmart type tractors that they manufacture under one roof, independent of Cub.

My son in law has a Cub Cadet Tank zero turn mower, and loves iot. Yhis is the commercial line and is built like a tank. He said it has the highest blade tip speed he could find, an will mow as fast as you can stay on the mower.Top speed about 10 mph. Don't know about the smaller units, but I have a Cub Cadet 2180 tractor mower . This is the third year for it and I have had no problems yet.

Cub Cadets started/made by IHC until about 1984. When IHC split then and farm equipment sold to Case/Tenneco the Cub Cadet Corporation - Lawn and Garden equipment section- was sold seperatly. MTD now owner. RN

Actually, MTD, the owner of the "Cub Cadet Corp." took control of the Cub Cadet line in June, 1981. The tractors stayed the same minus the IH emblem for several more years....about 1984 or 1985. All the parts and tooling were transfered out of IHC's Louisville plant in early summer of '81 however.
