I have a 1943 H Farmall. After getting a three point hitch put on my tractor a few days ago I started discing my garden, it was running pretty good but needed a long over due tune-up. Before I finished the fuel line kept plugging up with rust from the tank so I pulled it over and took the tank off cleaned and re-installed. New plugs, points, new manifold (cracked in three places),put everything back together, barely runs checked compression, 95-25-100-0 , that's right two dead cylinders. Is it possible stuck valves? and can it be repaired easily? thanks in advance

Guys, thanks I took the valve cover off and guess what? One of the bolts that hold the rocker assembly on was broke and the oil line was broke and pouring into one cylinders. Just got a new rocker assembly from ebay for ten bucks, should be here in a few days thanks

Maybe the strain on the motor by the hydraulics raising the 3 point was just too much for the old girl to handle. Okay, so that wasn't funny! I think that maybe the tune up should have been a valve job instead.

Randy, any chance the plug wires are crossed? Check your plug wire for firing order. I don't disagree with what others have suggested

It's not hard to imagine that in the process of changing the manifold a piece of something could have gotten into the head and is blocking a valve or two from closing. As Old said, it's not a big job to take the valve cover off to see if there's one not coming all the way up. If there is, I'm guessing the only way to be sure of getting it all out would be to pull the head. Whether or not you'd then be better off taking the head to a shop that could do a proper valve job on it, I wouldn't presume to say.
Maybe somebody else could suggest a way to blow the trash out.

Good luck, though. Wm

Pull the valve cover and have a look. You will be able to see if its valves from there. Hard to belive it ran good till the had/did that work to it.

First thing is check to make sure all the push rods are straight. If you find bent push rods, straighten them. Then adjust the valves cold.

Squirt a little penetrating oil on each valve stem. Start it and see if all the valves are closing at idle. Then add MMO or ATF to the gas.

If you have valves sticking, but still closing, the MMO may clear it up.

Did you do compression with dry cylinders and again with a couple of squirts of oil in the spark plug hole to seal the rings?
