I purchased a new water temperature and oil guage for my 1946 M Farmall that I am fixing up and painting. I'm pretty sure these are replicas made in China based on the price. The Temp guage fit OK and is working. The oil guage will not connect to the original oil line. Looks like I need a male to male adaptor fitting to make it work. Do any of you know where to get such a fitting. I'm sure a lot of Big Red folks have run into this problem before! Thanks in advance for any helpful advice.

Thanks for all the information. I don't have a local IH dealer in the area so I will check out the local NAPA store or Lowes. I appreciate the help.

I bought my adapter at my local IH dealer. They knew just what I wanted when I told that I had a replacement gage.

Home Depot carries a large assortment of brass
tube fittings. Is the oil line 1/4' copper tubing? If it is you probably need a compression fitting from 1/8" male pipe threads to
1/4" tube. You may need to cut off the old tube nut on the oil line with a tube cutter. Then install the new tube fitting on your new gauge
and then install the new tube nut on the oil line and then tighten. You can get them in straight
or in an elbow. Hal
PS: Take the old and new gauge with you.

John (cub owner) has it correct. A good hard ware dealer, or hydraulic shop will also have the components. Take both pieces in to the counter, Manytimes theyare different thread pitch and need to be measured with a pitch gauge to be sure not to cross thread either. JimN

Perhaps the gauge has 1/8" male pipe thread, and the line has an "inverted flare", or, possibly a compression fitting?

As the other poster said, an auto parts store SHOULD have a brass fitting to mate them up.
