Can anyone please tell me a close weight estimate of a 1954 Farmall SMTA. Tractor has narrow front and no wheel weights. On my 7000 lb GVW car-hauler, I've hauled an H before without any problems, but know the SMTA is heavier. Just want to make sure I'm not exceeding the weight limits of the trailer.

Thanks
DJL

My narrow front SMTA with no wheel weights, but a Saginaw 3 point hitch weighs in at 6,100 pounds with five gallons of gas in it.

Had mine weighed when I hauled it here. 7200 lbs as equipped with rear weights.

You will be overweight. Minimum weight of an SMTA is probably 5500+ lbs, your trailer will weigh about 2000 lbs. I wouldn't push the limits of the trailer, not worth the risk.

To much IMHO.

You have to include weight of trailer probaly 1500+ lbs. in GVWR.

My SMTA gasoline with no weights or fluid weighs in at 6350. I haul it on a 7000 GVW trailer with an 84" between the fenders clearance. I made two 6"X10"x6' blocks that I place against the fenders. I then run the tractor on them and this lifts it over the fenders and it rides nicely like that.

Your comments intrigue me. Does the tractor only ride on the blocks and not the fenders? How stable is the tractor on the blocks? Do you have any problem if your tires are wet to get on top of the blocks? Considering the weight of the tractor and the empty trailer, are you exceeding the GVW of the trailer?

Weighed my SMTA to tractor pull. With wide front and diesel engine , no wheel weights, it was 6890 pounds.

Even though the weight of the SMTA would be within the limits of your trailer, will the tractor actually fit? I have been looking at a car trailer or skid steer trailer to haul my M, SM or SMTA but I have stayed away from them because the tractors are too wide to fit between the fenders unless the rear wheels are reversed.

Weights vary according to how its equipped, but a close estimate is 5600 lbs.
