John in Red Hook NY posted a message on 9/15 stating that he had a clutch problem with his 230. I'm having the same problem with my 230 which has been setting for a fer years. If indeed it is the pilot bushing or pilot bearing needing to be lubed, must the tractor be split to repair? There is a inspection hole underneath the belly of the tractor. Can the necessary repairs be made through this inspection hole?

Marv: You'll have to split the tractor, the pilot bushing is in the end of crankshaft behind the clutch and presure plate.

Did you take note of what I told John about oil. I don't think your problem will be clutch sticking on shaft or fingers on presure plate being not equal, those two usually happen with new parts.
