Thank you very much for the responses to my earlier post on this subject. I have one question and it is regarding the temp sensor.
If I mount it directly on the T its' protuberance (thingie) will obstruct the flow some what, if I add a nipple, coupler and then the temp sensor will it be to far away from the flow for accurate measurement? Which is best?
I'll post and wait for a verdict. Thanks again.

Thanks guys, it is now a done deal. I did not follow 1 part of my instructions and I am not proud of that. You suggested 1500 watt, and I could only find 1000 watt and 2000 watt heaters in local stores. The 1000 watt was $27.00 and the 2000 watt was $47.00. I do not know if I have heavy enough wiring to run the 2000 watt and in conjunction with the price chose the 1000 watt. The package says thermostaticly controlled, so I am guessing it would not hurt to leave it plugged in all day.
I have the 300u primarily for blowing snow, a 7' pull type blower. It does well with that. Have the bucked in front if I should run into any problem. Anyhow, living in the country I want that tractor as fit as I can afford to have it when the snow comes. It is not a tractor to take a picture of, but I have put a lot of work into it and it has never worked so good, as long as I have had it. I like it. Thanks again for all the help.

Jimer: Your going to have that 300 starting so well you'll be able to drive from MN to Winnipeg in Janruary. I expect you'll be like me, tractor may be willing, but the flesh, NO.

About 5 years ago a friend of mine left his open station tractor at my place in Nova Scotia, as his brother was coming for it to haul out firewood. The brother, also a friend and a retired engineer, came when it was -30F and was going to drive the tractor 5 miles. I said to him, "Load the tractor on my trailer, surely a retired government engineer on a pension, has enough money, he doesn't need to drive 5 miles at -30F on an open tractor." Now, he deserved that, just the summer before, his brother and I were marking out some cutting and welding on old iron. We needed reading glasses. Our good friend the engineer, suggested that if we needed reading glasses, we should have enough money, we need not muck around welding old tractors on a sunny Sat. morning.

By the way, I agree with Bob.

Jimer - Go with the additional nipple and coupling!

Due to high thermal conductivity of metal pipe fittings, also turbulence in the coolant while the engine is running, you'll see little if any temperature gage error from adding the nipple. And should you find the gage DOES tend to read low with the nipple installed, simply wrap a bit of thermal insulation around the nipple and tee.
