Drain plug is frozen solid and stripped round...better to buy a new pan, or drill/weld a new plug?

Didn't see a pan in the parts cat. on this site...recommendations on where to find one, if that's the way to go?

Use an acetylene/oxygen torch to heat the plug and then use a pipe wrench to loosen ccw. Hal

I tried the oxy/a last night, but no luck...figured if that wouldn't do it, I was sunk

Hold a 2/2" nut up against the old plug and weld through the center to hold it on. When it cools, the heat will have loosened the frozen threads and the nut will be there to turn it out. Good luck, resell your new pan, or resell the one you fix. JimN

I meant 1/2" not 2/2. JimN

Worked like a charm! I'll add that to my bag of tricks...thanks for the suggestion...she's purring right along now (and that was some nasty oil that came out)
