Putting a new hydraulic Lift-All cylinder on an M

I’m trying to replace the original Lift-All hydraulic cylinder on the hitch on my Farmall M. The original cylinder has 5/8 inch holes for the pins, and all of the new cylinders out there seem to have 1 inch pin holes.

Is there some place I can buy the hardware to attach a cylinder with 1 inch pins to my drawbar, or should I just start fabricating something?

That looks like the bottom attachment bolt for an aftermarket 3 point hitch. We had one like it some time ago. I'm sure you could use some bushings in the cylinder and use the 5/8" pin. Be sure and measure the overall length of the old cylinder as well as the diameter as it may not match a new cylinder.

Hope this helps,
Bob

The bottom of the cylinder was pinned into a small bracket that bolted to the drawbar. (see picutre). As you can see, the bracket got pretty bent up, so I'm thinking it mught have been homemade.

Anyone got a good photo of the rear of an M with hydraulics and a three-point? I'd like to see what its supposed to look like.

Just get some bushings 5/8x1. You didnt have any failure with the 5/8 pins in the old cycl so just bush the new one to take the 5/8 pins as the shear valu of the 5/8 is greater than the pressure applied.

Unless the use of 1" pins would weaken the attachment (be to close to an edge), the best may be to drill the holes to one inch. Be sure to use the same diameter cylinder as the original. This will maintain the correct action speed, and the correct force on the components. Cylinders with 5/8" pins are not powerful commercial grade products. As pointed out this is not a stock lift all component at all. Be careful to assure safe operation, have hydraulic capable people look it over to assure its safety. I am not blasting your hitch, it is just a safety issue. JimN

Blue,

That's gotta be some kind of an aftermarket hitch outfit.

Ms didn't come with anything other than a standard drawbar. They didn't come with a cylinder either.
