Howdy. TA (low side) on my 1466 is out again. Trying to determine whether or not to replace with the newer Mechanical Diode style, get a rebuilt TA like the one in there or get one 3rd party that has more disks for the direct side and a bigger sprag for low. As you all know, replacement of these aren"t cheap....so I want to get the best one so I don"t have to re-do down in the near future. Thanks!

Go over to the Red Power web site and ask Ed Leaman about TA"s. Hy Cap uses the same POS spag that Case-IH uses . I would recommend using one of Ed"s Ta"s or on from Allied Precision.

Hy-Capacity also makes a spraugless TA, it uses a clutch pack for the low side, same style of clutch pack as the DD side. They're quite expensive and the shift from DD to TA will be a little harsh, but you don't have to worry about the sprauge anymore. They've got a 10 year warranty, I think. The Hy-Capacity HD sprauge unit is the next best option as far as long-term reliablity. Only good thing about the C-IH mechanical diode is the warranty, but you probably only get that if a C-IH dealer installs it.

WHen i was doing them full time i always installed the Hd . T/A from Hy Capactity and did a complet job as to rebuilding the MCV and testing of the MCV pump and still to this day all the ones that i have installed are still working and some have been in for over twenty years . Now as for the dioed T/A's unless they have made them better around here they were not holding up and i changed out four of them back to the Hd. units .
