My grandpa and I purchased a 1945 Farmall M today. New rubber and wheels, starts and runs great. Purchase price was 1300.00 and for 300.00 more, a 3-point hitch. Drove it 30+ miles home; not a single problem. And it used very little gas!!! It has a 9 speed transmission that works smoothly too. I thought it was a great deal that I just had to share. Patrick

Not sure how it installs, but from what I can tell, it gives you a high and low gear, similar to a TA, but you need to clutch to shift it. Grandpa remembers it being offered in the 50's. Patrick

I've read about this 9 speed. What is it exactly and how does it install?

Brian

It is a two speed gear setup that goes from the input shaft to the counter shaft so you have two ranges for reverse and 1-4. Since you have two ranges for each of the four work gears plus road gear it gives you nine speeds.

Thanks. I take it that the ratios are reduced? How does it mount?

It replaces gears within the transmission.

The low range is a little lower than the factory gears, and high range is a little higher. My H will start out with a load in 4-H, and is almost as fast as the factory 5th gear. 5th gear is not effected by the 2 speed addition. ken

55 50, You are way sharper than me. I have wondered for a long time what kind of name that was. Thought he might have a yogurt store. Man I feel dumb.

Paul, don"t feel too bad, I"ve tried several different ways of pronouncing it and never did come up with a viable answer. Makes all the sense in the world now. DUH. Harley
