Bob, Went to check the thread about my 424 distributor this morning and it was 5 pages buried,so just bringing it back up.. I'm not running any kind of resistor with that pertronix ignition,so that very well could be the problem.. Would it be better to run one of the ceramic resistors or to get a coil that truly doesn't need one?or is that even an option, got no problems adding a resistor if thats what it needs.. thanks for your help, Tim

I would buy a coil with the resistor built in. lots simpler. The electronic ignition is not origional anyway. And should last the next time if you use the right coil.

This one's tough, if it says "external resistor required" then that means an external resistor is required: you have a 6v coil. The ceramic ones are more available than they used to be and I like them because they are traditional if not original.

Buying a coil with an internal resistor is more expensive and it is still not original.
