I am getting a noise from my clutch or transmission on my 1466 that goes thump, thump, thump with the clutch out. When I put the clutch in the noise goes away. Any ideas what I should look for?

I'm almost willing to bet that if you drop the oil from the speed trans and remove the tranny brake cover that you will probobly find a broken off tooth from one of the constant mess gears on the TA or countershaft gears.

TV is correct about the noise traveling. I would add if it stops with the clutch pushed in, it has to be input shaft of the TA and down the constant gears to the bottom shaft. Does the thump speed up as you increase engine rpm's? And if the TA is shifted? The speed trany shaft would make the thump speed up or slow down as you shift the 1 thur 4 lever. Seem's like the clutch disc should be OK, but to fix this noise you will be into that part first anyhow. Are you going to tear into it yourself? Drop your Hy-Tran and look in the bucket for pieces of something thats not supposed to be there.

Thanks for all of the great suggestions. If had no T/A when I bought it. Thought about replacing it, but would need lever, linkage and TA unit. When I push the engine speed up, the noise speeds up also. This weekend I will start to look for parts in the bottom. I do plan on doing all of the owrk myself.

Don't know as i can not hear it myself , and one thiing about them is that a noise can TELEGRAPH thru the drive line so it could be in the clutch area or in the range transmission or in the speed transmision. and with out being there to listen myself i would be shooten in the dark.
