I was just curious to see which service manual you recommend (out of the two available). I currently have a 51 M & am NOT the most "mechanically inclined" person. Would you recommend:
1. 128 page IH-S-M
OR
2. 66 page aftermarket IH-8

I'd agree with Hugh.
Lotsa times whenthe explanation is hard to follow seeing how somebody else worded it can make all the difference. Just make sure when the UPS guy brings your books you get to them before the dog does.
Good luck, Wm

Looks like the dog thumbed through it.

Granger: I'd recomend both. The original IH operator's manual will give you much of the day to day maintainence, adjustments, etc. while the IH-8 is a service manual, designed in helping the guy doing rebuilds, replacing components, etc.

I have both for my tractors, and wouldn't want to be without either. For example that pump your dealing with currently, IH-8 would be the manual to have.

I agree with Hugh. I have both the original operators manual and the IH-8 manual for my W6. Both are very handy to have. Also a parts manual will come in handy.
