I just posted a photo of my fast hitch 2 bottom plow in the implement section. This is the same plow I talked about missing the landside wheel about a week ago. I"m sure someone can help. Thanks again. William

William: I have two IH plow parts books containing roughly 65 plows built between 1930 and 1970. Some pages and some plows are missing from my books. Yours happens to be one of the missing.

IH 2 and 3 mounted plows did not come standard with the landside wheel. Standard equipment was the long landside. The wheel is optional. Personally, I'd take the long landside any day.

Hugh Thanks for the info. Now next question "what's a long landside and what does it look like?" Sorry for being dumb, but plows are not something I have taken lots of time to study. Again any info is sure welcome. I have only been on this chat site for about one week and I have learned a lot, and found out I have a lot to learn. Looks like I will have to buy more books. Thanks Bill

Bill: All plow bottoms have a landside along the left side of bottom. Usually the front bottom or bottoms, the landside is about 1/2" thick and 6" wide or high and comes back to rear of plow beam. The rear bottom will have the same landside if a tail wheel is going to be used. The long landside is just a longer piece of 1/2" x 6" steel, usually somewhere between 24" and 30" long. Most of them protrude back a bit further than the moldboard. Of course the longer they are the better they hold plow from pushing to the left. Most long landsides will have a shoe about 2" x 6" at the tail end. in some conditions it helps control plow depth.

Hugh I think I know what you talking about, with the long landside. I have seen this but did not know what it was called and did not ask. I will check this out futher. The 2 bottom plow I have does have a round rod bracket extenting out from the back of the second bottom. I have a tractor manual with a 2 bottom plow being atached to a 300 tractor, the photo shows a wheel on the back and the bracket looks like mine. This is how this all got started I had a wheel back in 1973 but the wheel and the plow were not attached to each other and over the years thay got futher and futher apart I think the wheel went to the junk yard and the plow stayed "out back". I will work on this some more. Thanks for all your info. Bill
