those pistons I got say "FRT Z-16" and they have the number 374313 R1 and they also have a B on them.I posted last night those numbers and according to Dave Slater (thanks dave!) they are Fire Crater pistons, for a standard altitude gas engine and 3 7/16 bore and I measured the bore and sure enough, thats what they are. I would like alittle more info about them, I would like to know about what to expect in power gains from these pistons?. Can I still burn 87 octane in it or will I have to use a higher grade?.
Thanks,

Just click on the left side "Tune Up Info", then "H, W4, O4, OS4" Lotsa good stuff there.

Others will answer questions, but it's fun to read and see for yourself too.

Putting an H back together too, good luck!

I can't wait to try this engine out!. Hopefully it will be running in a couple days. I'd have it running by tomorrow night if it wasn't for 1 sleeve and piston being pitted from where the tractor had been sitting and got some water in it, so I would like to replace those. I don't think I need to rebuild it, it looks like it is all tight.

I know what you mean. I had a broken #1 piston, tried replacing just it and the rod, and 4 new rod bearings, put it all back together and still no compression on #1, figure the sleeve's oval or something. Took everyone's advice here and now have the head, crank, block, cam all at the shop getting "Newized". Gonna be a month or two before I can afford to get an overhaul kit, but hope to have it together by Christmas, and tractor all done by spring. A lot more to it than I planned on, but lovin it.

The Elders here will tell you to get all the manuals and search previous posts here for just about any information you need. Took me 20 seconds to get those links for you in first reply. I've learned a lot from reading them, more than you hope to learn when you first start searching a topic, they take you into other areas you might not think of.

Pics here of my build so far, if you'd care to see.
