I have an IH660 and need a torsion shaft that is located under the tractor seat. The arms for the 3 point hitch drawbars attach to it. It is 1 3/4" diameter, splined on each end and about 32-34" long. I can send photos to further explain.

The 660 was never fitted from the factory with a three point hitch. You have either a 560 type fast hitch and 3pth adaptor or an aftermarket 3pth. I'll bet the tin floor boards and maybe the fenders are gone.

On the fast hitch, I always thought the forged lift arms were welded to the torsion piece and not easily removeable. Same goes for the aftermarket hardware although I am sure there were many mfgs and designs back in the day. Yeah, photos would be helpful. Perhaps somebody has seen what you want in a salvage yard. Otherwise you are in for some machine work or a welded repair.

I understand it is an Allis Chalmer aftermarket add-on. The number on each arm is 222502. Can't find a number on the torsion shaft though.

Number probably won't help, because the part is most likely no longer available in any organized fashion (read that to mean you'll be scouring tractor junkyards).

Are you sure it's an Allis Chalmers add-on? I find it odd that a competing tractor manufacturer would make accessories for the competition's equipment. Maybe it's just parts scavenged off an Allis Challmers tractor and cobbed on to the 660.

Could be, but it sure looks like a factory job. Someone did fine work.
