Hey fellas,

Thanks for the great responses to my questions. Here"s another one...does anyone know the fuel capacity of a 1952 Super M and the fuel efficiency. A guy I know wants me to do some tillage (disking, field cultivating) and wants me to come up with a figure to charge. Shoot I don"t know - I"d do it for free to get some seat time in on the ol" Super M! Thanks,

There's more to productivity than fuel use. Exampe if you'r M covers 2 acres doing a job in 2 hours using 10 gallons of fuel. Smaller tractor covers 1 acre in 2 hours using 6 gallons. First tractor is more productive in this case. I run excavating equipment from time to time and lot of people will ask for price by day or hour of machine,then go with smaller machine at cheaper price. Lots of times they end up spending more because with right size machine the work could be completed in a fourth or third of time.

My SM with 4" fire crators gets about 4 gal per hour but I dont run it full throttle either probly closer to 11oo or 1200 rpms sometimes just over an idle but I am pulling an 8 foot offset EX Scuse Me ez ahh JD disc. There I said it its a 7 or 8 foot JD KILLAFURROW . i REALLY DONT KNOW WHAT KIND OF TRACTOR JD made to pull it I think an A was a little to small as far as tire size cause my neighbors 450 diesle with 18.4s has a hard time with the ol girl all the way opened. But any ways I guess its how you run it I was always told my H would do 1 gal per hour but I dont think that was at high rpms either. JON

I burn 3 gal/hr with a 10' disk. Speed will be one factor, will you be going over fresh plowed sod in 1st or corn stubble in 4th! Soil type the other.

Sometimes I charge $25.00 an acre "per pass" and sometimes $25.00 per hour....minimum fee of $40.00.

Hate to disagree with Denny but I'll bet that super M will burn closer to 5 gallons an hour. The super MTA I had used 6 on a 14 ft disk { I know - too big for the tractor but the 806 had smeared a piston and thats all I had }
As for enjoying the seat time and charging for it show up with a full tank and have them fuel it when done. Hope this helps, Pat in Wis

If it's the same as an M it's 21 gal. and burns 3 gal/hour, maybe just a bit more.
