1946 A water temp ?

Changed water temp gage with a new part from O.E.M. ran tractor for 1/2 hour with a feed sack in front of radiator. The new gauge showed no temp.
What should the water temp be ?

Where is the sender for the temp guage. When i put a water pump on with the sender on the pump i find the engine doesent get very warm. Have you put a thermometer in the radiator you will fing it around 140 or so when warm. You dont have anyplace to put a thermostat. Just check the temp of the coolant.

By that time it should have been up around 150-180 or maybe even a little more. You either have a bad gauge or you don't have a theremostat in the system
