What rims/wheels would work?

I was going to buy a parts tractor for $300 because it's complete, just doesn't run. I was going to take the rear wheels off of that and use them. But then I saw this picture with an H with some pretty wide rims. Don't know how wide, but they looked wider than "normal" Were they off an M? Would M wheels work on an H? He had also put pretty wide tires on it, and I thought the look was good, giving the tractor a bigger look to it.

So, what rim width was standard? What rim width is the max I would get?

Mike: I'd think long and hard before increasing tire size on an H. Whether 11.2 or 12.4 not a lot of difference. If you jump to 13.6 or larger you get a significant increase in tire diameter, and that knocks the power out of an H. We did it with 300s but you were talking close to 7-8 more hp.

A lot of folks did this with M and SM, but there again you were dealing with a lot more hp. Most folks consider the M to be just a little larger version of the H, while actually it was a lot more tractor. You think about this one; A and C with 113 cubic inches, H at 152 and M at 248. Close to a 100 more cubic inches than the H.

There were several sizes, the three most common by far were 9-38 for 10(11.2)-38 tires, 10-38 for 11(12.4)-38 tires, and 11-38 for 12(13.6)-38 tires. Any wider rims in use today are not factory rims. Of the ones I listed, the 9 and 10-38 rims would have been on most new H's.

Are the tires on it starting to look better?

You might want to restore your "parts" H as well.

I really hate to see someone part out a complete tractor rather than repair it. I know there's money in it but they are getting fewer by the year.

The two major reason why I am not considering buying a second tractor to keep and work on: Money and space.
I live in a subarban house with a 3 car garage. Already my wife isn't happy about giving up garage space to a second tractor, but she will hold her tongue knowing it's only going to be in there temporarily while I part it out.

The H rims, and the M rims, will interchange. There really was no such thing as a "standard" size. The vast majority of Hs did seem to have the 10" wide rims, but those were not "standard".
Quite a few Hs were equipped with the wider 12" rims, and fitted with the 13.6 tires, which was the size that most Ms came on, but that size was not "standard" for an M either. This is one of the things that is very interesting to take note of when you get your parts manual. You will find that just about everything is an option. The choices of wheels ranged from narrow steel wheels to wider steel wheels to dual steel wheels, and then we get into the rubber tired options. Many different choices here also including factory duals.

I don't know what the max is, but I'm pretty sure standard was 10". The standard size tire was what we now call 11.2x38. I think. I'm trying to learn to include more qualifiers with everything I post. Gotta put in the weasle words to improve plausible deniability.
BTW, I think your H shows originality in its flaunting of "standard.'
