Is it me or do others have the same problem.
After restoration of a 52 Super M the sheetmetal " doesn't fit well " . Leaving everything loose to fit all the gaps, it still just isn't good. I just can't get the hood to fit even in all four corners. I can get 3 perfect but that 4th has a 1/2" gap. Nothing appears to be bent or distorted , i'm guessing the nose sheet metal has a tweak in it that i can't see . Any tipps on making this fit better .

Thanks Jim

you can add shims under the radiator to level the hood from left to right, and use the support rod for front to back tilt. also you may need to add shims under the front of the gas tank. i use an old mudflap off a truck and a hole saw to cut out shims. 1-1/2 hole saw works good, you can slot the washer so you can get it in wothout pulling the radiator or fuel tank off. the other thing to check is where the front bolster bolts to the frame rails. there is some play there also

All the tins were blasted with plastic media as not to warp or add texture to the metal. I have loosened the tank and rad , its almost as if the holes in the tractor for the rad were bigger it would be perfect. I have even played with differnt thicknesses of rubber under the rad to get a nice even plane on the body lines. It's just going to take a little time .I'm sure you guys are right on the fact they were never perfect to begin with .

Thanks Jim

You can also adjust the stay rod to move the radiator forward and aft a little. The radiator can also be twisted to help with alignment.

A WELL FITTING HOOD IS NOT ORIGINAL!

Did you have the gas tank off?
Leave the bolts loose on the tank and the nose piece.....put the hood in place and try to move the tank and nose piece to make a better fit.....
good luck.Ill be doing this soon on my Farmall M .....

Couple thoughts. I noticed that on my Super M as well but I really think that it didn't fit right in the first place but that I didn't take notice of it until I was specifically looking for that perfect fit. You tend not to notice things when they are dirty, rusted etc. I actually think it's fairly rare to have the hood fit perfectly on all four corners. You see a lot of them that have gaps at the tank.

Did you sandblast the sheet metal? Perhaps a slight warp developed?

The mounting holes for the radiator on my H were elongated a little. The radiator can be moved about a 1/4" forward & back. Maybe you could move one side forward and the other back until you get a even gap. ken
