I have two consecutive teeth broke off my Main Drive Gear. a) How long will the gear last? and b) Does the tractor need to be split to change this?

a I wouldn't count on it lasting very long under load. It might go a long way in parades.

b If you mean a bull gear, the big gear on the rear axle, you have to pull the operator's platform, not split the tractor. I'd rather split a tractor, they are a job to get off.

No. I'm talking the main drive gear. It is attached to a bearing cage that is removed from the front of the transmission housing. It is the frontmost gear on the top shaft. The IT manual says that the tractor should be split, but it almost looks like I could do it without splitting it.

You can, but youll have to drop the pump. Dont count on it lasting long even in parade form especially if the teeth are boken completely off. That particular gear is not attached to the main shaft I dont think and comes out wit hthe rest of the bearing cage.
