WHATS THE TOP DOLLAR VALUE?? Sweet tractor sitting in friend shed for the last 15 years. Fires right up with starter, tin straight as an arrow, original paint with fenders, low number. Steel wheels are in fine shape with good lugs and ring around fronts. WHATS THE TOP DOLLAR VALUE??

I know all about ebay and am watching one or two being offered. Neither is even close to the caliber of the tractor I am looking at. This tractor is one that I would want to buy and keep. If I ever was strapped for cash, it would at least be nice to get my money back from her.

How does he want to sell it? If he wants to sell it on Ebay, then I would have him think hard and strong about the minimum he wants for it, and then set that as the reserve limit. Anything over that is bonus.

Being a recent H buyer, I have, and am still watching the Ebay market for H's. The tractors listing for over two grand are just not moving. Usually they are selling for around $1000. (more or less depending on the tractor's condition.)

Steel wheels are a major deal killer for me. But there may be other's that are looking for that sort of thing. There is a '39 steel wheel on Ebay right now. I can't get into Ebay at work to get you a link, but I saw it. Watch and see how it does for a gauge on pricing.

Top dollar will never be any more than what a buyer is willing to give and the seller is willing to accept. The old tractor market is very unpredictable. A good straight, well running H on good rubber will bring around $1,500 if the right buyers are present, if the buyers aren't there, the tractor won't bring much more than about $800. I would think that a good straight and good running '39 H on steel should be worth a minimum of $2,000. and if the right buyers are present, could go much, much higher.

I understand. So being original dull paint would not hurt the value? Selling asking $2500.

To me, the original dull paint would be a plus. Much better than a hacked up sloppy repaint job, and also the original paint tells me the tractor is not hiding anything. $2,500 is not a bad asking price.
