I am looking to add a water pump to my Farmall A. I have been searching around for archive messages on the subject. It appears that pumps on the later Super As and Super Cs will bolt up directly. Is this correct? Anybody have any pictures of the installation you could email me?

Do you end up with one fan belt driving the water pump and generator or one belt for the pump and another for the generator?

Thanks for the help.

No, you will still need two belts.
I used a water pump from a Super C and a fan belt and generator belt from a Super C too.

You will have to modify the mounting of the generator top bracket. Mine worked very nicely by bolting the top generator bracket right onto the water pump.

Does the pump pulley you used have 2 sheaves? Some of the ones I have been looking at on ebay show the pump pulley as a single sheave. Can the 2 sheave idler pulley I have now on my A without a water pump be used on the new pump?

There is one sheave on the water pump. The pump runs on the same belt as the fan. The fan should have two sheaves, the second one drives the generator. A Super C fan belt is a little longer than an A fan belt, just enough for the water pump too.

The water pump will bolt on. You'll need a longer belt for the fan and the same belt for the generator. If the radiator and block are clean the thermo-syphon system works just fine. It will boil a little after you shut the tractor off but it doesn't harm anyhing.
