I have a 1967 gas 424 that runs great, the problem is the lift. When the hydralic fluid gets hot the lift jumps constently. I have replaced all seals & o'rings twice. When the fluid is cool the lift works great. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks

If the unit is jumping, I think it is due to a leak in either the control valve or the cylinder. I used to have a 424 and it did that for a while and then eventually would not lift at all. It was the seal on the piston in the lift cylinder. Had to have a new piston and O ring to fix it. The original seal was leather, so had to have new piston to accomodate the more modern O ring. There is a shut off valve on the 424 that shuts off the hydraulics to the 3 point lift so you can connect a remote to the system. Raise the lift up and close that valve and shut off the tractor. If the lift goes down, the piston seal is leaking.

There's several adjustments on that 3-point mechanism.

IH put out a "Blue Ribbon Service Manual" covering just the lift, and you really need one, if your are trying to adjust it.
