Farmall red (2150). Make sure to tape off the metal name / sn plate.

IH used IH 50 until mid 1949 or so, 2150 was not used until 1961 with the introduction of the 404 and 504, I believe. 1102b replaced 50, 201 replaced 1102b when the 460 and 560 were introduced. Really does not make any difference --- .

The starter and generator were both painted black at the Delco-Remy factory. These items were then shipped to I.H. and installed on the tractors as they went down the assembly line. When the tractor reached the end of the assembly line, it got painted red. A new replacement generator or starter from an IH dealer would have been black. So, it's your choice, painting both of them red would be "correct", but I kind of like the contrast you get by painting them black.
