What is the difference? The only thing externally that I caught is the 1456 has different brakes. Which one would make the better Bull tractor?

Sounds like the 1456 can make more power and is probably worth more money.

I know the 1456 had bigger gears on the final drives so it would go faster in high gear - the older tractors could have been upgraded to those gears. I think the 1456 had wider gears as well.

1456 has lower production numbers, and the gold demonstrator models as already mentioned.

Doesn"t the 1456 have planetary final drives, and only 3 speed gears instead of 4? The transmission is definitely beefed up as compared to the 1256, that"s for sure.

As I understand, the 1456 was what the 1256 should"ve been with regards to the transmission. 1256s just had too much horsepower for the transmission design.

The 1566 (& 1586) has a 3 speed transmission that is supposed to be stronger then the 4 speed but that is debateable as the three speeds seem to be more prone to failure. I always thought the 1256 & 1456 had the same transmission while the 1466 had a heavier transmission.

Somwhere in the 56 seires there is a break in seiral # where they went from a 20 degree cut on the gears to a 25 degree cut and the same gears carried thru the 86 seires in the 4 speed transmissions . and this was to make them stronger and less noise . And you can change a early 06-56 over but ya have to use both gears all the shafts are the same .
