Super A Front U-bolt

Before I bought my super A, some tom-fool removed the front axle U-bolt and tossed it. Now, I've obtained another one and must put it on. I'm hoping someone will know the answer to my question which is: Will I need to remove the radiator to get this job done? (I know I need to remove the hood and grill.)
Thanks.
Mike

Had to grin at that one. My name is Tom and I removed the U bolt from my Super A about 40 years ago during a repair job and haven't missed it one bit. If I ever figure out what it is for, I may just put it back on.

I don't know for sure, but I have always assumed the U-Bolt is there to minimize a left side roll over. Also, it allows you to jack both front wheels off the ground at the same time when jacking under the pivot pin.

Oops! Sorry about that, Tom. No rudeness intended.

Best thing is first get the threads clean so you can thread easy then you wont have to remove anything. Just stock it thru so only the thickness of the nut is thru. Then after putting top nuts on you can tighten from underneath. Will be fun but can be done. Much easier going on than taking off. Good luck
