Looking for an antique diesel tractor comparable in size to my 8n (perhaps slightly larger) I know almost nothing about Farmall tractors. Just curious what they offered in the 30-35 hp range that was diesel. In the 1950's and 60's How available they are today, and what an unrestored model would cost. Also didn't Farmall fight the 3 pt hitch for a long time too, I need the hitch for sure. Would love to put a loader on it too.

The closest thing that I can think of is the 350 utility diesel. I think that was a pretty rare tractor. and much rarer today.

I replaced a 8n with our 424D and its a great little tractor, three times the tractor the ford was. I start it with a shot of either on cold mornings but it always starts. I second what the other fellows said

Try a B-275 or B-414. Made in England but good utility tractors. The same basic tractor is still being made today by Mahandra and lots of parts are even still the same as on the 275 & 414.

If you are willing to go into the 60's, a 424 diesel is PERFECT.

It is not much larger, physically, than an 8N, and is nearly 40HP, and can be had with a 3-point hitch, live hydraulics, live PTO, and power steering.

Here's mine, still in her work clothes:

early ih diesels were notorious for cracking heads, m-450d. the 460's 560's and even 706's didnt start without the glowplugs even when warm out. id look for something newer, parts for the old ones m-450d= $$$$$

Hi i know of a smalll gas start diesel that Ih made. A MD or a WD-6 tractor will have that engine. they were made in the 40's and early 50's.
