Nameplate has Model H FBH Se# 148389. This puts the tractor in the 43/44 year using your numbers. But the orig owner recalls his mom and dad bought it in 36. Is this possible, given the numbers listed on the nameplate. The rear drive wheels have rectangular, 1.25" x .375 thick, spokes, that are riveted to the hub. There are no pics on this site that I am aware of that matches these tractor wheels. Are these an addon of some type or orig??

I've got a '43 H also that has the same kinda wheels. They were steel converted to rubber. Not rare but a conversation starter.

I have a late 42 model H with cut off steel like pictured below. It was common for the war year tractors to come on steel. After the war the steel was cut and rims welded on for the rubber tires.

Ser#148389 is a late 1943 model. Look for casting codes on major castings and you will see when they were actually built. I would guess your tractor was probably assembled in about September of 1943 with wartime steel wheels.

Like this? Original steel wheels, rims have been cut off and new rubber tired rims welded on.

Guess you can't always trust 70 year old memories. The H was introduced in '39. They bought theirs no earlier than 1943. Could be original steel wheels with new rims for rubber?
