Does the 340 have live PTO? Anybody have experience with them? Are they good tractors, any weaknesses?
Thanks, Mike

Mike, I have a 340 Farmall, they also made a utiliy model, that i like alot. Mine has live power, power steering, teledepth 2 point hitch. They put out around 35 horsepower. Mine will out pull the H that we have. the steering is considered a weak point so they don't make a good loader tractor. There were only about 8000 made. I like mine. PUTTER

We have never had any trouble with our 340 other than the traditional oil leak here and there, and i really like that they have down pressure on the three point, and ours has an idependent pto.

I had a 340 utility with the two point hitch. It had an independent PTO actuated by some type of band at teh rear of the tractor. Worked ok, though. My biggest beef with it was that the hydraulic pick up tube would lose suction when the tractor was tilted to the left. I'd have to get it to level ground and crack the pressure line to get it primed again.
