Okay i had the tractor running almost perfectly, but now it wont start at all. it wont even pop. I have no idea what is wrong, it has air and gas and spark. However the mag seems to keep getting out of time, i timed it twice today, and it still doesn't seem to stay at the same pace as the engine.

Anyone have any ideas?

Any and all help would be highly appreciated.

Thanks.

That could be that i timed it the wrong direction, ill have to double check once i get the drive for the magneto back together. All the teeth on the "big" gear of the magneto are good too, so i am about to go insane here.

I took the drive apart and the key was not sheared either, it is still good.

Any other ideas?

Hmmm....When you are timing it,you do realize that the shaft turns opposite the way the rotor turns? I have been through this myself and cant for the life of me remember what I was doing wrong.I am wanting to say I did not realize the shaft turns the opposite way or something. If the thing is just simply getting out of time, and the key is not sheared, then it would alomost have to be the gear in the front cover or the teeth in the mag.

I ajusted the timing by removing those two bolts, and turning the engine, than reattaching the magneto to the driveshaft. And i have treid choking it but that didn't help at all, that just flooded the carberator. And the gears had all of their teeth when i put them back in, and i dont see how they could have lost any since than.

Then I would have to say that the woodruff key in the shaft to the mag has sheared.

Where are you timing it? If youre having to take the two bolts out for the adjustment there then id say that key on that shaft is sheared off.If not there then where? Only other place it could get out of time is either the cam,or the gears on the mag.Are yo choking it any? My 14 doesnt like the choke but maybe once if I let it sit for more than two or three weeks.

I found I have to choke mine after it's warmed in the summer with heavy air. Doesn't make sense to me but it works.
