I found these in the bottom of the tranny in my F14.Luckily it did no damage that I can see.The thinner peice with the two bolts and spacers has hit the bullo gear at some point as it has a scar on it,both the gear and the peice, but the gear is ok.Any idea as to what these are in case I need them and dont know it? Sorry about the size!

My son's F-20 was full of sludge and we drained it, filled it with diesel, then I ran the belt pulley with a 1/2" drill and homemade adapter to turn trransmission for a few minutes. We did have rear axle shafts out at the time to replace seals, so it didn't have to spin the wheels. Sure cleaned it up good, but found more leaky gaskets!

The piece in the lower right, if it is rounded on the other end, is a 'poppet' that goes in either the pto lever, or in the shift rails. There are 3 total, 1 in each shift rail, and 1 in the pto. They were spring loaded, the spring going in the hollowed out part. The other piece, looks kinda like maybe part of the tranny top that has the 2 pins. Wasn't yours damaged right around there? The plate maybe was part of a reinforced seat support? Just my guesses...

Dang! Nailed faster than I could post it.After looking at my replacemnet top I fiqured out the smaller piece with the bolts, including the little round peice was part of the seat bracket underneath.I guess when the old man that Dad "loaned" it to went to take the seat off he brke the bolts and that has already broken loose at the welds underneath and fell in the tranny. When I flipped over the bandaged top, Icould see the outline of the rectangular peice and then noticed the hole in the rectangular peice was threaed the same as the seat bolts, which may have fell in there when I took the old seat support off to put on the hydraulic unit.( Which is also why Im changing this top,it wont sit down right with that big old bandaid on top)I must say that Im real pleased with the guts if this thing. There is some minor wear on the gears, but the bearings, with exception to the input shaft bearings, are all in real good shape.Hadrly any noticable wiggle, which is a plus when I get ready to paint it right.Cant make up my mind about a gasket for the tranny top though.Im thinking about just using sealer and letting it go for now and hope it doesnt leak, what dya think?

Since I redid mine in'97, my top has been off several times for minor repairs and overlooked problems. I have used the same thing every time. I tube of silicone caulk from the local hardware and a caulk gun. Not one leak yet.

This is what it looked like on the inside.I wish I had took a pic before I drained the old gear oil out. I filled up a large Burger King cup,I mean the big one, with gunk and sludge out of it.You can still see some of the old gear oil in the bottom.

heres another. You cna see a little more sludge has worked its way towards the drain hole.It was plugged so bad that it wasnt draining until I stuck a screwdriver up into the sludge. The front plus was the same way.

WOW! Dude you ought to fill that booger up with diesel, jack up the rear wheels, and put her in first and let her spin for a while. Keeping the wheels off the ground puts no load on the drivetrain and it won't damage your gearbox.

The diesel will brerak down all of that goo down into a water like oil and she'll be clean and free.

Hit post before I was done, but engine wont run with the gas tank off,and its not worth the time to rig up something. When I drain it thois afternoon,Ill hit it with my pressure washer.Ive done that several times with good results.
