A few weeks ago I posted about trying to get my Farmall A's front end apart (that is to make it wider). Well two of my buddies showed up after work with the torch and we got that blasted thing a part. It was stuck pretty good but it did give it. We wire brushed it all and put it back together with some sort of synthetic lube (grease) that he brought from work that suppose to even ward off salt. Anyway it nice to have the thing all fixed up but in the process of getting the thing separated we ended up putting a little dent in the spindle. Now we tried our best not to dent it using wooded blocks and a dead blow hammer but it happened. My question is: is there anyway to get that dent out? It's not hurting anything but my eye, and I have to get close to even see that.

Thanks,

K

Hi K, I put a couple small dents in the spindle doing the same thing as you. Those spindles have bushings top and bottom and long as the spindle turns free inside it shouldnt bother it at all. Once I put some paint on there you cant hardly notice it at all IMO !

Yeah, that probably the case. Just bugs me when you start with something that's it's in perfect shape and end up with something that's not.

Although I understand what you are saying, it was not in perfect shape. The axle was stuck. Your easy opportunity was to just not adjust it.

It's a little like some old cloth-covered wiring. It is perfect until you have to bend it, then it breaks apart. It was not perfect, it just looked that way.

The originality police won't ding you on a little unseen Bondo.
