Has anyone used "Slime" in their Farmall rear tires to stop slow leaks?? I got a new rim, new tube and good rear on the 230 and it will lose about 5lbs (out of 12lbs) in about 2 weeks or so. Was wondering if Slime (couple of tubes/cans) would stop the leak? thanks, BobG in VA

I have seen the results of leaving it in for a few years and it can and will rust the rim. It was SLIME brand i bought at atwoods. Anytime you introduce moisture inside a rim it will rust.Slime has moisture in it and given enought time it will corrode.

I've used Slime brand tubless tire sealer and haven't had any corrosion problems with it. Don't know anything about the "off brand" stuff.

Slime works wonders in trailer tires that just don't seem to want to stay inflated.

Slime has it's good points, and some bad points, as has been pointed out. If you decide to use it, get the right type. 'There is one ofr tubeless, and a different for tube type tires. The tubeless tire type will disove the glue used in the seams of the tubes.

I agree with old, the valve core is the likely culprit. Or you may have pinched the tube on installation. I would break it down first and check the tube. You may also have had something in the old tire that punctured the tube. Did you check the inside of the tire with a cotton glove? It will snag on little sharp places.

I have used Slime, both in my pickup, tractor, and implement tires, especially baler tires. I think it works well but won't seal bead leaks on tubeless tires or folded places in tubes but it does wonders for thorns and stickers in bald tires. I've not experienced corrosion associated with it.

RUN as fast as you can. stay away from that stuff. it will rot your rims. used it in 4 wheeler and lawn mower, it rots the rims.

Re: Slime.... I haven't used that particular brand, but I use the stuff sold at Sears (in their garden supply/tractor section. It is really good!! I swear I put some in the front tires on my Cub, (you could actually see the holes!) and the darn stuff worked for three years, until I replaced the old tires !! I used one tube in the rear tire and it is still staying at the desired pressure even yet ! Go to Sears, get some and try it, you'll be amazed !! Good luck with 'er! Jim

Check the valve stem/core. I'll almost bet one or both are bad or loose. And slime will not even begian to help if they are.
