Any good real parts house can order you a valve cover gasket or you can get one from your Case/IH dealer.

According to my repro service manual (purchased from YT, by the way), valve clearance on the gas start diesel in the McCormick WD-6 is 0.017 hot.

I don't see a model number for the starting carburetor on the gas start diesel - its significantly different than one for a gas engine.

Haven't had to open the valve cover on my WD-6 yet, so other than suggesting a Case/IH dealer, can't help you there either.

Keith

Yes, I missed the D part, as I tend to read things too fast sometimes -- but the valve clearance is the same. A kit of the carb on the MD/WD6 is going to be harder to find. The start on gas carb is an F8, IH part number 53873DH. Valve cover gasket is different also, part # 52019D.

There was only one carb for the M/W6, it came in gas or distillate versions, I think there is only one kit. Your Case-IH dealer has all the common parts for your tractor or can order them. If you do not have a dealer look at www.cngco.com, web address for a CIH dealer in WI that specializes in mail order. Valves are set at 0.017" hot using a feeler gauge. People have various was of adjusting valves. To quote the service manual: "This may be accomplished with the engine at low idle speed (somewhat messy) or by turning the engine to top dead center of the compression stroke for each cylinder and adjusting the valve lever clearance of each cylinder in the firing order (1-3-4-2)"--you really should get manuals for your tractor.
