I just got a cub cadet 122 running. It has a 12 hp Kohler motor, and the motor is surging up and down while running, at any speed. What would the problem be, Carb, or governor or what?????It sat for 4 years with bad coil, and finally it was given to me.

Check for any binding in the carb to governor linkage.

I would expect it to be in the Carburator or the governor. There is a governor set-up procedure in the manual. I'd start with that and go from there.

Kohler puts their manuals online at their site. Google it and you should come up with a link.
