Is there a specification on how much weight (down force)one can put on an H draw bar hitch assembly?

Thanks

It"s not unusual for the crossbar to be worn in the center, under where the roller rides. The one on my H has a second bar welded to it all the way round. I replaced the roller with a flat bar and added another across the top. I don"t worry a bit abot the over loaded dump trailer, 1000, maybe more, on the tongue.
Good luck, Wm

Carl: It certainly isn't the front end of the H lifting off the ground, as the drawbar will bend first.

When those tractors were new, we used to double the thickness of both cross bar and swinging drawbar by welding 3/4" plate to the bottom of each. Some folks call the 1" thick drawbar an M drawbar, and while it was the drawbar on most Ms, M drawbar is not the name. The 3/4" is a light duty drawbar and the 1" is the heavy duty drawbar and was available as such on both tractors. The 1" drawbar would not stand up either without reinforcing.

When the front wheels come off the ground take off a couple hundred pounds, if the hitch breaks get a heavier one. Of course, I can be a little crazy like that.

Don"t know the specs butI use my H to gather firewood on a tandem axle trailer and the 3/4 inch drawbar bentway down. Traded for a M drawbar that is 1 inch thick and fit right on with no more trouble.
